consulting, and controls in the Construction, Oil & Gas, and Nuclear Power Industries. Sam is a
certified trainer in P6 and has instructed courses for Primavera Planner/Scheduler (P6),
Primavera Project Planner (P3), and SureTrak. He has had hands-on experience in project
schedule and field coordination as well as performed as a construction laborer. Sam has a
Primavera Implementation certification for P6 and was part of a team at BP to integrate P6 with
their cost accounting system. To further his career development, Sam has a Master’s in
Construction Management and has recently completed a Project Management Professional
(PMP) certification.
Experience
Samuel Caywood provides on-site project controls support for RMF Nooter and the BP-Husky Toledo
Refinery where he is the Lead Scheduler for the TAR Project Controls Group. In the position, Sam has
developed an import procedure that automates man-hour estimate loading into P6. He has also has
created custom reports that aid in the alignment of P6 with the Cost Plus Fix Fee Contract and Resource
Project Staffing. Sam’s knowledge of Risk Analysis has led him to a position of leading Risk Workshops
on critical path schedules for the TAR. He also serves as Admin Superuser for Primavera P6, where he
sets up users with certain access rights based on their EPS / OBS assignments. Sam’s involvement in the
development of BP’s Control of Work (eCOW) permitting process as it communicates with BP’s Worklist
and P6 database for the TAR group was crucial to getting all work permitted.
For his previous employer, Faithful & Gould, Sam also worked at the BP-Husky Toledo Refinery. It was
here that he provided schedule and cost project controls consulting for the Major Capital Project Controls
Group. During this assignment, Sam performed cost and scheduling control for a $360 million Toledo
Feedstock Optimization (TFO) project and a $50 million Recycled Gas Compressor project. Sam’s
allocation of project costs into appropriate IPA cost buckets lowered the Cost Effectiveness Index by 21%
to be within industry norms. Sam also used Earned Value calculations and project performance to
accurately predict the project completion date of the project on 3 separate occasions.
Prior to joining F&G, Sam provided project scheduling, consulting, and training services for Critical
Business Analysis, Inc. In early assignments, Sam developed cost loaded schedules for Slagter
Construction for a I-75 bridge repair project which included 10 bridges totaling > $600,000. Sam
was an integral part of the Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project Controls Group where he has maintained
multiple cost loaded Project Schedules, was integral in the development of project templates, enhanced
business process improvement with custom reporting, and maintained/expanded their Project Control’s
Reference Manuals. Sam also created four school construction project schedules for Apco/Arcon,
totaling $8 million. At CBA, Sam was part of the Risk Assessment Team being the first in the company to
learn and assist CBA Consultants with the Primavera Risk Management software. He also is a certified
instructor for Primavera Planner/Scheduler (P6), Primavera Project Planner (P3), and SureTrak.
Preceding his employment with CBA, Sam was employed by a construction management firm in Holland,
Ohio, where he served as their primary scheduler, performing project controls functions for over 30
projects. There he developed and implemented in P6 a workable OBS and EPS structure for the
company. He also cost and resource loaded schedules which enabled him to provide upper management
with detailed cash flows and resource man loading charts for their projects. Prior to that, he worked as a
Project Coordinator while at the same time attending school and teaching P3 scheduling at Bowling
Green State University. His Project Coordinator responsibilities consisted of contract writing, estimating,
schedule generation and project execution, submittal tracking, RFI’s, meeting minutes, project punchlists,
along with coordinating subcontractors to perform jobsite efforts.
Additionally, Sam has experience in the US Air Force as a SSGT and safety manager for his duty section.
